I recently started a new project - using up my Designer Series Papers (DSP) and boy do I have a lot of them!! They are beautiful and I am always too busy thinking of ways to use them and then never do. Sound familiar. While you may or may not have DSP I am sure you have pattern paper that you purchased because it is just gorgeous - right?
So this post if for you. CHOP IT UP!!! I have found that if I cut my pattern papers down to fit a standard card front (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) then I can use it for almost anything on a card. I do some 3D projects so I usually only cut half down and leave half for projects that take bigger sizes of paper. These cards were made with the Picture Perfect Birthday 6 x 6 DSP paper from the recent Stampin Up Occasions Catalog that is now retired. It may or may not appear again in the Clearance rack but I haven't seen it there yet.
For 6 x 6 papers I cut them into 3 pieces:
2 3 x 5 pieces
1 1 x 6 piece
A few of the sheets I cut into card fronts (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) which left me with a 1/34 x 5 1/2 piece and a 1/2 x 6 piece. Those smaller pieces I have seen used in mosaic type cards where you put all your small scraps together. Hopefully I will get time to make a sample in the near future!
I used Stampin Up and non-Stampin up supples for these cards. It doesn't matter what you use as long as you use up those supplies and don't leave them laying around!!! Plus this is a great way to use up all those scraps you have in a drawer or container some where!!!
You can make your cards a simple or as complex as you like. This one took me less than 5 minutes to make! The black ribbon wat left over from Halloween!!!
Now is a great time to pick up ribbon and embellishments from the Clearance Rack but it is clearing out fast! You might want to head over to the store and take a look. Click on the SHOP NOW or the Clearance Rack pictures on the right of this post!
